Wineries in Prince Edward County

Forty-plus small, family-run wineries scattered across the limestone and sand of the County — most a 10–20 minute drive from the house.

Prince Edward County is one of Canada's most exciting cool-climate wine regions. The growing season is short and the soils are limestone and sand, which is exactly what coaxes elegant Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and traditional-method sparkling out of the vines. Most of the cellar doors cluster along the back roads of Hillier — the so-called Closson Road wine route — and around Wellington, with a few more out toward Waupoos and Milford.

Tastings here are relaxed and personal: you'll often be poured right beside the barrels or out on a vineyard patio, and several wineries do wood-fired pizza or long lunches. Below are the County wineries we point guests to most. Tap any one to open it on the interactive map and get directions.
